So the one reason I took the photo like this was not to show how big she is or how well she is doing by. This picture is to point out that the damaged branch is a good 2-3 inches longer than the one that experienced no trauma at all. Due to my quick action to mitigate the damage and the fact the plant put a lot of its focus mending the broken area; the hurt section was able to grow faster than the rest. Ain’t nature awesome?

Happy Father’s Day and keep growing strong!

Look at that callus! She is solidified the branch and allowed me to at least add some low stress clips. I’m still too worried I’d do more damage if I tried to pry her down to the trellis. Added some other clips on that side to help manifold her. Was able to continue to use the trellis on the right side though so that’s good. I did add a few clips at the top of the stalk because I think I am going to raise the trellis a few more inches.

I also took a picture of my burnt leaf tips to show what early stage over feeding looks like. Some might say it’s potassium deficiency or nute lockout, but I know my plant and schedule. I also know that her soil is half Roots Organic Lush, so there are nutrients to feed the plant for a few weeks but I still have been using other food. So I will put her on pure water for a bit and it should correct any issues.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and of course, KEEP GROWING STRONG!!!

Here we have a picture of Molly’s forming callus. After 3-4 days the plant no longer needs support, I am merely leaving it there to ensure the cross breeze from the fan doesn’t hurt her.

This callus is formed by the rapid division of cells that reestablish the connection from the two broken parts. However, at their current stage, they are blank cells that allow the plant to survive. Soon, once the wound is fully filled, the cells will start to transform into a “role” cell. Much how out T cells can turn into any missing cells, as can these blanks.

Never devalue the sheer amazingness of nature. It is so cool watching a plant heal itself just like the human body does. It helps to ensure our plants, like ourselves, can keep growing strong!!

As soon as that break is sturdy enough, this girl will need a haircut! She is also ready to take a few cuttings here in the next few days as well. I am also surprised to report that despite the accident, she is showing no signs of stress or that it even slowed her growth a little bit. Shows how much vigor this creation of mine has. I love it!

In this image we see the separation caused by yesterday’s attempt at stress training. We can also see the Velcro crutch I put in a place to hold her together. Finally, you may notice that the plant does not seem affected by this break, no wilting or anything other than the fact I cannot greatest the bend for a week or so.

You see, because the plant is still touching along the snap, she can feed and regenerate that damaged tissue. Much like we heal after a cut. Nature really is amazing. To the point that even these snafus turn into a decent thing for me to write about. Almost like it happened just so I had something to talk about with all the great people here. So drop a line, let’s get interactive with our girls!

I hope you all have a great weekend and as I like to say on Facebook. Keep growing strong!

Sadly in growing not every day is a good day. Sometimes we push them a little too hard and they break. Thankfully in this situation I was able to get the splitting to stop before the branch was completely broken off, so I put a Velcro cast on it and will monitor her progress. I’ve done this before with great results. As long as the plant is touching where it split, it will grow back together in a week or so. Just means that side will not be as big as the right side. C’est la vie!
